March is the month where women are honored, recognized, and celebrated for their contributions and notable achievements over American history. Here at Martin University, we celebrate and spotlight our very own Alumna this Women’s History Month.
Alumna Marva Hunt is a Visiting Lecturer for Kelley School of Business Indianapolis, and was the Director of Undergraduate Programs for 5 years. She is a proud product of the Indianapolis Public School systems, and earned her Bachelors of Science in Business Administration from Martin University, and a Master of Science in Management from Indiana Wesleyan University.
Marva is a first-generation college student, and one of the things she is most proud of is the fact that she earned both of her degrees as a working adult. Although she took a non-traditional path, she was still able to achieve her dream of teaching, and giving other adults the inspiration they need to pursue and reach their dreams, regardless of their age, class, sex, race, gender, etc.
Marva started at Kelley in February of 2017, and brought over 15 years of higher education experience as a faculty member and administrator.
Before joining Kelley, Marva was the Program and Departmental Chair, and Interim Dean at Ivy Tech Community College for the School of Business. During this time, she collaborated with Kelley on the ransfer Single Articulation Partnership (TSAP) for Ivy Tech graduates to transfer into the Kelley School of Business, yielding very successful results.
During her tenure at Martin University, she served as the Business Chair & faculty and helped create a Medical Coding Certificate for students wanting to enter the field, ready to work, and without the burden of completing a Bachelor’s degree. Ina addition, she chaired the University’s Strategic Plan Committee. In 2016, Marva was awarded one of Martin University’s Outstanding Alumni Awards, and served as the Keynote Speaker at their 2018 Graduate Dinner. Marva was recently selected as a Trustee on the Martin University Board of Trustees.
She has served as a faculty member for Ivy Tech, and has taught as an adjunct faculty member at several local colleges in the areas of Business, Healthcare Management, and Medical Coding.
Join us in celebrating this amazing alumna alongside other great women who continue to help break glass ceilings for future Martin Women and beyond.
