Indianapolis, IN — The Martin University Board of Trustees today announced that President Dr. Sean L. Huddleston will step down from his role effective November 28, 2025, marking the conclusion of a transformative chapter in the institution’s history. His departure is voluntary, well-earned, and comes with the full support and gratitude of the Board.
According to the Board, during his six-year tenure, Dr. Huddleston has demonstrated a deep commitment to Martin University’s survival and growth, steering the institution through challenges with resilience, vision, and steadfast dedication. His leadership has been a stabilizing force, ensuring the University’s continued focus on student success while strengthening its foundation for long-term sustainability.
“Dr. Huddleston has guided Martin University with integrity, courage, and vision,” said Joseph Perkins, Chair of the Board of Trustees. “Over the past six years, he has worked tirelessly to secure the University’s stability and growth, often against the odds. We are deeply grateful for his contributions, and he leaves with our admiration, appreciation, and full support.”
Under his guidance, the University advanced key initiatives in academic innovation, community engagement, and student-centered programming, positioning the institution as a modern leader in higher education.
The Board of Trustees affirms its unwavering commitment to the University’s mission and its students during this transition. Building upon the strong foundation Dr. Huddleston established, Martin University will continue advancing strategic priorities, including expanding access to career-connected learning, strengthening partnerships, and ensuring students have the tools and support they need to succeed. As part of this forward momentum, Martin University will launch a Virtual Campus in January 2026, expanding educational access and flexibility while continuing its mission of transforming lives through inclusive and innovative learning.
Details regarding interim leadership and the national search process for Martin University’s next president will be announced in the coming weeks.
