Martin University Names Kenneth Mayfield CFO and Executive Vice President of Finance and Administration


Martin University is pleased to announce the hiring of Kenneth Mayfield as Chief Financial Officer and EVP of Finance and Administration. Most recently Mayfield was CFO of the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles. His responsibilities will include managing all financial functions of the University based on his background and expertise in budgeting, financial planning and analysis, compliance, and internal controls. He has more than 20 years of leadership experience in public sector finance, strategy, and operations leading teams through periods of both transformation and sustained growth.

Mayfield has held financial leadership positions across several Indiana state agencies, where he was entrusted with overseeing substantial operating budgets, managing cross-functional finance teams, and providing strategic counsel to senior executives and governing boards. As CFO of the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles, he led enterprise-wide financial operations – aligning fiscal strategy with long-term goals and promoting operational excellence.

 

Throughout his career, Mayfield has championed collaboration, transparency, and accountability. He has driven internal process improvements, supported the development of fiscal policy, and played a key role in shaping long-range planning efforts within the organization he served. His leadership philosophy is rooted in the belief that sound financial management is not simply about numbers – it’s about empowering mission-driven organizations to fulfill their purpose with confidence and resilience.

 

He holds a Master of Business Administration with a specialization in Accounting from Indiana Wesleyan University and a Bachelor of Science in Public Financial Management from Indiana University. He remains active in the professional finance community and most recently served as President of the Central Indiana Chapter of the AGA (formerly Association of Government Accountants), where he promoted excellence in public sector financial leadership and professional development.
