Dear Martin University Family,
It is with a heavy heart that I share the unfortunate news of the passing of our trustee, Senator Jean Breaux. Senator Breaux joined Martin's board of trustees in January 2022 as an active member of the Institutional Advancement sub-committee and a passionate supporter of our beloved institution. Senator Breaux was first elected to the Indiana Senate in 2006, occupying the seat her mother, Billie Breaux, held before her. She served faithfully in this capacity for nearly 18 years and was most proud of her efforts to improve Black infant and maternal mortality, access to healthy food in food deserts, and reproductive justice.
Senator Breaux’s presence will be missed. Our sincere prayers and condolences are extended to the family as they navigate this difficult time.
