Martin University Students Make History at the Aspiring Educators Conference

Martin University proudly celebrates a historic milestone as our students were represented for the very first time at the Aspiring Educators Conference, hosted by the National Education Association (NEA). Held this year in Portland, Oregon, the conference is a nationally recognized gathering that brings together hundreds of future educators from across the country to inspire, equip, and connect those preparing to lead classrooms and transform education.

Representing Martin University with pride were recent graduates Carlos Dyer of the Teacher Preparation: K–6th Grade program and Robinique King of the Teacher Preparation: PreK–3rd Grade program. Their presence at the conference marks not only a personal achievement but a significant moment for the university as trailblazers for future students.

They were accompanied by Adrianna Hannon, Lead Faculty for the Teacher Preparation Program, whose guidance and advocacy continue to empower aspiring educators to grow into confident, compassionate leaders in the field.

Throughout the conference, attendees participated in interactive workshops, policy discussions, and skill-building sessions on topics such as culturally responsive teaching, classroom leadership, mental health awareness, and student advocacy. The experience provided Carlos and Robinique with a powerful platform to share ideas, gain new strategies, and build community with fellow aspiring educators from across the nation.

For Martin University, this moment is a testament to the growth and impact of our Teacher Preparation program and our commitment to shaping educators who are ready to lead with purpose and passion.

We are proud of Carlos, Robinique, and Professor Hannon for their leadership and for representing Martin University on a national stage. Their participation opens the door for more students to engage, be inspired, and envision a future where education is equitable, inclusive, and transformative.
