Martin University hosted its second annual Empowering Excellence Gala: An Evening of Inspiration, Celebration, and Entertainment on April 28, 2023 at Newfields. The event was a black-tie fundraiser aimed in celebrated the achievements of Martin University and its students while raising funds for important initiatives.
"Empowering Excellence" reflects Martin University's dedication to empowering students from various racial and ethnic communities through education and support, as stated by the university's President, Dr. Sean Huddleston. This theme highlights the university's commitment to helping students reach their full potential and achieve their academic goals, including their many accomplishments along the way.
The gala was graced by the presence of special guests including Grammy Nominated National Recording Artist Kelly Price, actress and model Eva Marcille, fitness trainer Donna Richardson-Joyner, and motivational speaker LaVernne Richardson, as well as a performance by the Kentucky State Mighty Marching Thorobreds and the Indianapolis Metropolitan Youth Orchestra.
Proceeds from the Empowering Excellence Gala went towards funding the National Center for Racial Equity and Inclusion, and student scholarships at Martin University.
