Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19)

Dear Martin University Community,
 
One of the chief responsibilities of Martin University is to ensure the health and safety of our students, faculty, and staff. With this in mind, we have been closely monitoring the Coronavirus (COVID-19). Fortunately, there have been no confirmed or suspected cases on our campus.
 
To maintain the safety and well-being of our entire community, the following decisions have been made:
 

• Classes will be moved to an online asynchronous format following the return from Spring Break starting March 23rd - 27th.

• Coursework will be made available through the online student portal.

• Students are expected to access and submit class assignments through the portal during this time.

• Faculty will hold office hours virtually for students within the week to answer questions.

• The 43rd Anniversary Celebration Weekend events scheduled from April 2nd – 4th have been postponed.

• Facility rental bookings have been suspended. Any groups who have currently scheduled events using campus facilities are recommended to reschedule but may hold these events if they choose.

• For the week of March 23rd, the campus will be open to essential staff only.  Please see the policy for a listing of essential employees. 

• Non-essential employees have the option to report to work as normal.  Those choosing not to report must seek approval from your Cabinet leader to work remotely.   

 
The decisions above were made with input from University advisors, constituents, and staff. As the spread of COVID-19 worsened, the University assembled a response team to exercise cautionary measures. Consisting of University Leadership, Human Resources, Campus Safety, and University Communications, each team member plays a critical role in decision making, contingency planning, preparation, and community awareness.
 
Recognizing that this is an unpredictable situation, the University will continue to monitor the status of COVID-19 and provide updates on its plans moving forward. We encourage everyone to continue to be diligent in following the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommendations to help decrease the spread of the virus.
