Division of Academic Affairs

Provost Vice President of Academic Affairs

Dr. Lashun Aron-Smith

Welcome to Martin University!

It is a privilege for me to oversee the academic division at Martin University (MU), where we prepare our graduates for lives of success and meaning as value creators in different types of organizations and as enlightened citizens upholding our society’s values.

As the Provost and Vice President, it is my responsibility to provide administrative leadership and foster excellence in the creation, development, and implementation of academic programs, plans, and policies for the Academic Affairs division. This leadership includes strategic planning and resource allocation. I collaborate with academic deans, department chairs, faculty, staff, and external stakeholders, as well as with the President and other executive leaders across campus, to envision, support, and enhance Martin University’s mission of providing career-oriented education.

Our programs are unique, as it focuses on urban education, in an urban environment.  As an urban education, our academic programs allows you to complete your degree on time and on budget.  Our small class size allows you to have a personal interaction with faculty.   In addition to the small class size, dedicated faculty members provides a robust learning environment with academic support, and applied experiential learning opportunities.

In your academic field of study at MU, you will gain the skills and knowledge required to be practitioners in that field.   In addition, your MU education will develop essential skills that are expected for advancement in your career – skills like effective communication, workplace diversity, competency, collaboration, and analytical and ethical reasoning.

I hope you’ll come visit us – meet some faculty members, meet some current students – and see for yourself why Martin University could be just the place you’re looking for.
