Before Martin, I worked as a journalist in the National Guard. I took classes at Vincennes and IUPUI, but never completed my degree. After several years, I found myself repairing parking meters for the city of Indianapolis. When I decided to go back to school the people at Martin spoke to me as a human. They helped me understand what my goals were and what obstacles I had to overcome. At Martin you have that family support.

I was determined to make a difference so I began working as a teacher. Martin’s method of andragogy helped me recognize differences in learning styles. I help my students work to remove obstacles so that they can realize their vision.

I’m now an Administrative Advisor/Vice Principal of Indianapolis Metropolitan Career Academies (Indianapolis Met), a charter high school that opened in 2004. My wife, Carolyn, is a Martin alumna, as well. We even gave our son the middle name "Martin."

People ask me if a degree from Martin means as much as a degree from other universities. I just tell them you can look at me. I work next to people with degrees from colleges all over the state. People from Martin not only graduate with degrees, they graduate with experience. Martin will prepare you to be successful.
