Thursday 3/6/08 - Concert By Quarter of Sax saxophone quartet, and Meridian Trombone quartet. The concert will feature music of the Brown Brothers Saxophone Orchestra (Rock Stars of the 20's and 30's). This music was thought lost for many years, and has just been recovered and republished. Delightful titles such as Kitten Scamper, That Moanin’ Saxophone Rag, Russian Rag (on a theme of Rachmaninoff), and Triumph of True Tones give a hint of the delightful variety in this music. The trombonists will add to the excitement with arrangements of popular tunes, transcriptions of classical warhorses, and original modern music for the combination. Both groups will combine for a finale for all 8 players.
Wednesday 3/19/08 - Concert Music for Winds and Strings, featuring soloists from Slaughterhouse Five Woodwind Quintet with string accompaniment, closing with a piece by Jiri Jaroch, "Childrens’ Suite" for nine players.
