Jahuan Jarret, a 2013 graduate of Martin University who majored in  Environmental Science, has been named as one of 45 Woodrow Wilson Indiana Teaching Fellows for 2014.  The highly competitive Teaching Fellowship prepares candidates specifically to teach in the state's high-need urban and rural secondary schools.

Jarret will complete a specially designed, cutting-edge intensive master's degree program based on a year-long classroom experience at the University of Indianapolis.  He will commit to teach for three years in a school that most need strong teachers in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM fields.)  Throughout the three-year commitment, he will receive ongoing support and mentoring.

"We at Martin are very proud of Jahuan and offer him our heart-felt congratulations and best wishes," said Martin University President Dr. Eugene White.  "We will continue to follow his career as he makes a difference in the lives of students in Indiana public schools."
