USDOE Gives Martin Advanced Status For Title IV Federal Student Aid Program

Martin University has been awarded the highest rating by the U.S. Department of Education for the handling of the Title IV program (Federal Student Aid).  This rating allows the University to participate in the Federal Student Aid program without any internal oversite.

2014 Realizing the Dream Recipients

The "Realizing the Dream" Award is given to First Generation College Students that have completed their freshman year of college.  Each chosen student has the opportunity to select a faculty member that has been influential in their efforts to "Realize the Dream".  Winners selected from Martin University are:

Bring a Friend and Win a Scholarship!

Would you like an opportunity to earn a $400 Book Scholarship?!  Twenty-five students will be awarded a $400 Book Scholarship if they meet the following criteria:
  1. Register for at least 6 credit hours for the spring and summer 2015 semesters and;
  2. Refer a friend who registers for at least 6 credit hours for the spring and summer 2015 semesters.

Martin University Campus Safety Week

Martin University hosted Campus Safety Week activities, Monday, September 29th through Friday, October 3rd.  Speakers for the week long event ncluded Michelle Corrao, Molly Burns, Officer Kenneth White and Marita Bower.  Students, faculty, and staff received insightful information on drug and alcohol abuse, active shooter events, self defense and more.

MSD of Warren Township Offers High School Equivalency Courses at Martin

The Metropolitan School District of Warren Township, Walker Adult Education, is offering classes to individuals looking to complete its high school equivalency program.

Adult learners, 25 years of age an older, can participate in these classes, held in the Andrew J. Brown Building on Martin’s Campus.

Constitution Day - September 17th

Constitution Day (or Citizenship Day) is an American federal observance that recognizes the adoption of the United States Constitution and those who have become U.S. citizens. It is normally observed on September 17, the day the U.S. Constitutional Convention signed the Constitution in 1787 in Philadelphia.

Universities and colleges nationwide have created "U.S. Constitution and Citizenship Weeks" in order to meet the requirements of the law.

Negro League Baseball History Presentation, Inspiring & Informative

Martin University had the honor of the being one of the host sites of a 90-city tour featuring Author Phil Dixon, co-founder of the Negro Baseball League Museum.

With an audience that included community leaders, Martin University staff, faculty and students, as well the Tigers of Crispus Attucks Medical Magnet, Mr. Dixon shared more than 30 years of African-American sports history.

Ms. Kelly Vaughn, host of Inside Indy, served as mistress of ceremony.  Martin University President, Dr. Eugene White provided an inviting welcome.  Mr. Jamal Smith, Executive Director of the Indiana Civil Rights Commission provided opening remarks.

The documentary "Black Baseball in Indiana" was also presented by Ms. Geri Strecker of Ball State University.  The documentary provided additional insight and humor appreciated by all.

Mr. Jon Glesing, Senior Marketing and Communications Manager for the Indianapolis Indians provided closing remarks and unveiled the "throwback" jersey Indianapolis Indians plays will wear in the Civil Rights Night Game at Victory Field, Friday, August 22nd at 7:00 p.m.  The jerseys will be auctioned for charity.

Martin University extends its thanks to the Indianapolis Indians, Indiana Civil Rights Commission, The Indianapolis Recorder, The Indiana Black Expo, and LA VOZ DE INDIANA for hosting such a great event at Martin.

The New Martin Student Center

Martin students now have a new place to unwind, socialize, network, and build positive relations.  The New Martin Student Center will officially open Monday, August 25th.  The Student Center is located on the lower-level of the Andrew J. Brown Building.

Students can enjoy a game of pool, foosball, board games, TV, or have a place to read.  Vending machines and microwaves are also located in the Center for the students' convenience. 

Hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.  Students will be required to show a Student ID.
