Biography
Ruby Bowman joined Martin University in February 2011. She serves as the senior level advisor to the President’s Cabinet and other University administrators on human resources strategic issues. She received her Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Jackson State University, and is also certified in Civil Mediation and Advanced Mediation. Ruby serves on the President’s Cabinet, Staff Council, Budget Committee, and as the University’s Title IX Coordinator and ADA Coordinator. read more

Brian L. Steuerwald serves as the Director of Institutional Research at Martin University. He earned his B.S. in psychology from Indiana University – Purdue University at Indianapolis in 1987, his M.A. in clinical psychology from Ball State University in 1990, and his Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 1996. read more

David G. Vanderstel, a native of Grand Rapids, Michigan, received his B.A. in History from Calvin College and his M.A. and Ph.D. in 19th Century U.S. History, specializing in immigration history, from Kent State University. He joined the Martin University staff in March 2011. read more

Dr. Kathleen Barlow came to Martin University in 2008 to teach English and Communications. She was promoted to Dean of the School of Liberal Arts in 2010 and continues to teach courses in English, communication and religious studies as well as lead Liberal Arts Faculty in fulfilling the mission of Martin University. She strives to maintain currency in her field and bring life-altering educational opportunities to students. read more

Biography
Dennis Jackson received his B.F.A. in Art Education from Drake University in 1968, his M. A. From Ball State University in Social Psychology in 1970 and earned his Ed.D. in Counseling and Educational Psychology from Indiana University at Bloomington, Indiana in 1977. He has been a faculty member at Martin University since 1999. During that time, he had significant input in developing or strengthening the Addiction Studies, Gerontology, and the Health Facility Administrators programs. read more

Biography
Dr. Steve Smith was raised in the desert Southwest and began his career in the social sciences in 1970 as a community organizer in the barrios of Maricopa County (outside Phoenix) Arizona. Community organizing led to a position as Chief Executive Officer of a statewide system of group homes for dependent and delinquent youth. While serving in these positions Steve earned his BA in Public Administration from Ottawa (Kansas) University and an MA in Sociology from Northern Arizona University. read more
