Liberal Arts
Liberal education in the university refers to activities which are designed to cultivate intellectual creativity, autonomy, and resilience; critical thinking; a combination of intellectual breadth and specialized knowledge; the comprehension and tolerance of diverse ideas and experiences; informed participation in community life; and effective communication skills. Its objects of study include cultural practices of all kinds - mass media representations, consumer culture, literary texts, practices of performance and display, opposition subcultures, and aspects of everyday life in the past, present, and future.
