Chemistry
The Science Division offers chemistry courses to both science and non-science majors that meet multiple needs of those students at various stages of their educational experiences. Each course exposes the students to the fundamentals of chemistry and enables them to read and understand key concepts and principles. The laboratory courses emphasize chemistry concepts and enable students to learn how to conduct experiments. Upon successful completion of the required coursework, the chemistry student will receive a Bachelor’s of Science (B.S.) degree. The graduate would be ready for Graduate studies and/or a career in professions including entry-level positions in research laboratories and chemical or manufacturing industries that would require applying chemistry knowledge to solve scientific problems. Courses prepare students for entry into professional programs such as pre-medicine, pre-veterinary medicine, pre-dentistry and teaching.
The major in chemistry requires a minimum of 45 chemistry credits.
