The English Department strives to prepare Martin University students with the highest quality of education by teaching them how to be effective written and verbal communicators. A range of courses are offered that introduce and enhance our students’ understanding of the writing process as well as the study of literature and creative writing. The Mari Evans Center for Writing serves as the university’s writing center where students can receive additional support from trained peer tutors. In addition, the center sponsors a “Lunch and Literature” book club and weekend writing groups for male and female students respectively. With a committed faculty comprised of professors with decades worth of experience and expertise, the department provides one on one assistance as students work towards improving their writing, speaking, reading comprehension and critical thinking skills.
