How to Apply for Aid

Applying for Federal and State Aid:

To apply for financial aid, you must complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) each year. The FAFSA can be filed using a paper application (forms available in our office) or electronically through the FAFSA website at www.fafsa.ed.gov. When completing the application, you must list Martin University, school code 014975, in Section 6 for your application to be forwarded to us.

Note:Your application must be received by the federal processor by March 10th for you to be considered for state grants for the coming academic year. If you file after March 10th, you will be still considered for federal financial aid. When submitting a completed FAFSA form to the Financial Office, an applicant is required to bring previous year’s income tax forms or verification of household income.

If this is the first time that you are filing for financial aid, we recommend that you request a Personal Identification Number (PIN) so that you can sign your FAFSA electronically. You can apply for your PIN electronically at www.pin.ed.gov. Once you have received your PIN number from the U.S. Department of Education, keep it in a secure place as you will need this PIN every year to complete your application electronically. Note: if you have previously received a PIN number but have misplaced or forgotten it, you may request a duplicate PIN through the website listed above.

Note:You can apply electronically without a PIN but you must then print the signature page, sign it and return it to the address provided on the signature page.

Once you have completed your FAFSA, you will receive notification from the U.S. Department of Education saying that your application has been processed. If you filed your FAFSA electronically, you should receive an e-mail notification within 72 hours. If you filed using a paper application, you will receive a confirmation through the mail in approximately 4-6 weeks.

Approximately 30% of all financial aid applications are selected for verification. If your application is selected for verification, you will receive a letter from our office telling you the documents you will need to submit to us. (Click here for Verification Policy).
